Community Walking Programme

A Place for Walking

The Shire of Peppermint Grove together with The Town of Mosman Park have launchined their new Heart Foundation Walking Program.

The Department of Health advocates that everyone needs to find at least 30 minutes each day to participate in physical activity for good health.  It only takes a little activity to gain some big health benefits.

By finding 30 minutes a day you can:

  • Reduce your risk of coronary heart disease
  • Lower your risk of diabetes
  • Lower your blood pressure
  • Improve your weight
  • Lower your risk of Osteoporosis
  • Improve your feeling of wellbeing
  • Reduce your risk of colon and breast cancer
  • Walking programs provide the motivation to participate in 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity with the added benefits of socializing with people in your community and enjoying the beautiful surroundings and facilities.

Volunteer Walk Organisers

The programme relies on Volunteer Walk Organisers, and both local governments are seeking registrations from persons interested in participating in the Heart Foundation Walking Programme as Volunteer Walk Organisers. All volunteers need to registered, and will participate in a training programme prior to the programme commencing. Dowload a registration form here.
