Stirling Highway was reserved as a primary Regional Road (with a reservation width up to eighty metres) in the metropolitan region scheme in 1963. Various studies have been undertaken since 1963 to determine the ultimate reservation width.
In recent years the WA Planning Commission has adopted an interim development width with a setback of 5 metres on either side for the purpose of controlling development. The Department of Planning is currently advertising an amendment to the Metropolitan Region Scheme on rationalisation of Stirling Highway. Submissions can be made to the Department of Planning up until 27 July 2012. Contact phone number 6551 9543.
If you are considering a development proposal that involves land adjacent to Stirling Highway you are required to contact the Department of Planning to clarify the situation of the land involved.
